their romance to Italy

We believe in love. We always hold hands walking down the street and we kiss in public – often! Respect for each other (and people in general) is a cornerstone of our relationship. We support each other in every conceivable way – we take being life partners very seriously. We challenge each other to be the best people we can be. As Nelson Mandela famously said, “You don’t serve the world by being small.”

We do many, many things together: spending time with family and friends (near and far), performing volunteer service, taking yoga classes, swimming, seeing movies and plays, going to museums, exploring the parks and neighborhoods of New York, and traveling.

We consider ourselves to be world citizens and avid explorers. Mark lived in Paris, France for five years, and Vivien spent considerable time in Senegal and Japan. She’s still friends with the Japanese exchange student who stayed at her family’s home during her High School years. We both speak French and have plans to learn Spanish soon.

Most important, we are ready to share our love, our values and our spirit of adventure with the child we are fortunate to adopt.
